Welcome to Ruhija Trekker’s Tavern Cottages is found at the hill top in Ruhija facing the Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park Ruhija side one of the most famous and popular parks and home to more than half of the world population of mountain gorillas. The lodge is so eco – friendly and has a lovely comfort atmosphere with 5 spacious cottages all with en-suite bathrooms with hot showers and flush toilets. A place of infinite calm surrounded by uncontrollable majesty and commanding panoramic views of the Virunga on a clear day, the beautiful sunrise, Lake Edward and Bwindi forest in the south. It is around 2kms from the park headquarters.

Location
Trekker’s Tavern is situated 2km from the park headquarters past the trading centre of Ikumba. It is 52kms from Kabale, 44kms from Buhoma, 462kms from Kampala and 502kms from Entebbe.
Activities
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park is a home to more than half of the world population of mountain gorillas, as well as a bewildering variety of other primates, birds, butterflies and a variety of trees can be reached within 20 minutes walk from the cottages.
The major activities here include gorilla tracking and bird watching; one gorilla group open for tracking which is Bitukura group.
Next to gorillas is bird watching whereby a bird watcher may have a chance to see 29 of the 34 Albertine endemics. The African Green Broad bill in the Mubwindi swamp, Grauer’s Rush Warbler and many other Albertine rift endemics can easily be seen here in Ruhija.
The lodge is a perfect place for bird watchers as a several albertine rift endemics and other special birds can be observed from the verandas of the cottages. A day walk to the mines provides a bird watcher a chance to see the Spotted Eagle Owl in a day roost, Doherty’s Bush shrike, Mackinnon’s Bush shrike, Red throated Wryneck, Dusky Twin spot, a variety of Wax bills and many others
