Kisoro is one of our most popular car rental locations in Uganda partly because of its proximity to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. It’s characterized by majestic hills, deep valleys, and winding roads, offering stunning scenery. One can easily access Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for mountain gorilla trekking especially Nkuringo and Rushaga sectors.

Other tourist attractions around the Kisoro region include the snake caves, the Batwa people (pygmies), mount Gahinga hiking, Bird watching, community tours to local schools, churches, villages, and fields where tourists can actively participate in daily activities such as harvesting, milking cows, digging, grinding millet and many more.

There are three options to fit your budget and traveling style: Comfort – the Toyota Hilux, Classic – the Land Cruiser with rooftop tent, and Budget – the Toyota RAV4. The Land Cruiser and RAV4 are reliable 4×4 vehicles widely used in Uganda and perfect for self-drive tours. The Toyota Hilux is the newer and most comfortable option, and more likely to meet expectations for road trippers with safari experience.

Hilux is the most comfortable and reliable vehicle. With good ride height for game viewing, increased ground clearance and bigger wheels, the Hilux is a real pleasure to drive in the national parks.

Compared to the classic Land cruisers, this vehicle also provides more comfort for its passengers when driving at higher speed on the main asphalt roads. Equipped with a canopy on the back for easy access to camping equipment and luggage.

Go for the Toyota Land cruiser box model. Classic, sturdy and reliable. Its manual has a 5-cylinder diesel engine and high ground clearance. Fuel consumption strongly depends on terrain, driving behaviour and load. Fits 4 persons with plenty of room for your camping gear.

Use the Land cruiser Tropy model with pop-up roof. No wildlife can go unnoticed from this viewpoint! The stretched version has six window seats, but can only accommodate 4 people with camping luggage due to the small booth.

Its manual has a 6-cylinder diesel engine and high ground clearance. Fuel consumption is around 8 km/litre. NO A/C. When equipped with a rooftop tent, it’s not compatible with the pop-up roof.

The RAV4 is Uganda’s most widely used 4×4. Sporty, compact and robust, as well as easy and economical to drive. It’s automatic and in permanent four-wheel-drive. Fuel consumption is very low compared to the Land cruiser: around 10-12 km/litre.

The 5-door model can fit up to four people. Not possible to equip with rooftop tent and electrical fridge.

Our Hilux and Land cruiser can both be equipped with a rooftop tent, or you can hire a ground tent which is also possible with a RAV4. Both options come with a full set of quality camping gear, including a mattress, sleeping bag, headlights, cooking equipment, table and chairs. The extra storage space in the Hilux makes it the perfect car for camping in the bush!

You can decide to experience your car rental with a driver guide. All our drivers are skilled, experienced, helpful and most of all pleasant company. They speak fluent English. You can expect from your driver-guide that he will get you to your destination safely and is responsible for the condition of the car.

He will also do game drives in the safari parks and he knows the best places to go for a lunch break or stock up on supplies. He can also help you fine-tune your itinerary along the way and recommend nice campsites, lodges and activities.
